It would be precipitated to do anything before there is a final report (or other news) from the auditors. TrueCrypt is a leading disk encryption software program that lets you secure disk partitions on your Windows computer. I think that much of the community is just on hold for that moment, so they know what to fix in an eventual fork or re-starting of TrueCrypt development. and it is the window 7 installation key philosopher s basic matters that is. Veracrypt appears to be another fork of Truecrypt that was started even before Truecrypts discontinuation with added security. Hume is almost the best truecrypt replacement windows of all skeptics. And I was unaware that Veracrypt supported Windows, or even Truecrypt archives. There is also a somewhat official fork called VeraCrypt.īut like others have said, you should probably wait until the final report of the audit (which is apparently still ongoing) before deeming TrueCrypt as unsafe. For the time being, Id recommend Trucrypt 7.1a over it, at least until they release a stable build. If you want to keep using TrueCrypt, you need to use the 7.1a version. The version on the sourceforge site has been altered by the TrueCrypt developers to disable the ability to create new containers (partitions, folders, etc.), so, it's just a version to allow you to access your existing containers temporarily while you migrate to something else. There, you can find the last unchanged version of TrueCrypt, i.e., version 7.1a, with verified hashes. Though Ive only used it for single disk systems, and have no idea how well it works for multi-disk computers. Ive used DiskCryptor recently, and that works well. It comes in a free version aimed mainly at Windows users and a premium version, which costs 35 USD per year (30-day free trial). About (a) I think, encryption works with 3 gb/s because of the AES-NI. But I am really unsure if this is a good idea because of (a) the performance and (b) the lifetime of my ssd. There is speculation that an audit would find a back door, that the developers were about to be revealed, that aliens were behind it and buried the source code on MH 370 etc etc. I want to encrypt my SSD with truecrypt with AES. Nobody really knows the reason but there is no 'obvious reason'. There is also a verified repository that was created by the auditing team. There are still a few sites that offer the fully functional TrueCrypt 7.1a for download. Like AES-Crypt, AxCrypt is an open-source cross-platform per-file encryption app which secures files using AES. I am running windows 7 prof on a SSD (mSATA).
